Heliski
Terrain no lift will ever reach.
True heliski — a helicopter drop directly onto untouched terrain — isn't permitted in France, so this is arranged with our certified partners across the border in Italy, priced by the drop point and summit chosen for the day. Within France, we offer reverse heliski: a short tour on skins, followed by a long descent to Bonneval-sur-Arc, then a helicopter pick-up back to base — a heli-taxi, rather than a heli-drop. No need to be an expert or a champion skier — a solid, comfortable level in variable snow is enough for many of the drop points we use.
Heliski’s appeal isn’t only the untouched snow — it’s what a helicopter makes possible in terms of scale and remoteness: glaciers and summits far beyond where a lift, or even a long climb on skins, could take you in a day, with sweeping views over the Mont Blanc massif and the wider Aosta Valley that are hard to describe from anywhere else.
Drops are arranged just across the border in Italy’s Aosta Valley — close enough to be a natural day trip from Val d’Isère. Most days are based out of La Thuile, with drops on the Ruitor and Fréduaz glaciers or near the Mont Miravidi and Mont Ouille, though Courmayeur and Val Grisenche are also used depending on conditions. A further option exists at Sestriere — a longer transfer, but still doable as a day trip from Val d’Isère.
Every request is treated individually: your guide builds the day around current snow conditions, the group’s level, and how many drops you’d like to do, then quotes accordingly. Each drop point has its own price — La Thuile, Val Grisenche, Courmayeur and Sestriere are not interchangeable in cost — so there’s no single flat rate for a heliski day; it’s confirmed once your request has been looked at.
