Powder We Go is run by Boris, a friend and long-time collaborator who is also part of our off-piste instructor network here in Val d'Isère. Together, we design international ski and snowboard trips to destinations chosen for the quality of their snow, not just their reputation: Japan, Chile, Norway, Iceland, Svalbard and Greenland among them. The trips are organised by Powder We Go and Boris leads every one of them himself, while we remain your first point of contact.
On each trip, Boris is joined by guides with deep, specific knowledge of the local terrain and conditions. Unlike our usual bookings, where we match you individually with an instructor, these trips rely on a team that already knows the place and its season well — and in Japan or Svalbard, that local knowledge is a large part of the experience.
Each trip is also timed for its best season: Japanese powder in January, the Southern Hemisphere winter in Chile, and the Arctic light and terrain of Norway, Iceland, Svalbard and Greenland, outside the usual Alpine calendar.

Questions before you begin
Are your instructors qualified and insured?
Yes. Every instructor in our network holds the French State ski instructor qualification (Diplôme d'État) or a recognised equivalent, and our mountain guides are IFMGA-certified. All carry professional liability insurance in accordance with French regulations. It does not cover rescue costs, medical care, equipment or unused lift passes, so we strongly recommend taking out Carré neige insurance, available online or when you buy your lift pass.
Do you provide safety equipment for off-piste or touring?
Avalanche safety equipment (transceiver, probe, shovel, avalanche airbag) can be provided on request, subject to availability — let us know when you enquire so we can confirm ahead of your arrival.
Is off-piste or heliski suitable for any level?
It depends on the activity. For a first off-piste outing, you need to be confident on piste. For ski touring, no previous touring experience is needed for most itineraries, but you should be comfortable skiing off-piste and have good general fitness. For heliski, it depends on the drop point: many are accessible at a solid, comfortable level in variable snow, not only to experts.
