A family rarely skis at one level. A four-year-old on their first turns, a teenager chasing steeper slopes and two parents somewhere in between make for a hard week if everyone is on a different timetable. The right lesson keeps the family together on the mountain.
From what age?
We teach children from the age of two to two and a half, depending on the child. At that age the lesson is about sliding, balance and enjoying the snow, not technique. We choose an instructor who is comfortable with very young children, and we recommend that young children wear a helmet.

Why private lessons suit children
In a group, a child follows the pace of the slowest or the fastest. With a private ski lesson, the instructor sees how your child is doing today: tired, nervous, full of energy. They change the exercise, the terrain or the break accordingly. Many children also gain confidence faster when the instructor’s attention is theirs alone.

One instructor for the whole family
Most of the time, a single instructor adapts to each skier, so the family skies together rather than apart. When the gap is too wide, say a three-year-old and a teenager who skis off-piste, we organise the day differently: separate mornings and afternoons, or more than one instructor if needed.

A lesson long enough to work
Our lessons for children last three hours minimum. Young children need time to get dressed, warm up, take breaks and still have energy left to ski. A short lesson can end just as the child is settling in.

How we do it
You tell us who will be skiing, their ages, levels and languages. From our extensive network of experienced instructors and local mountain guides, we put forward the people best suited to your family, and you choose. We usually reply within 24 hours.

Most of the time, yes: one instructor adapts to each skier. If the gap in level is very large, we split the day or add an instructor.
